21 and counting! Still have 4 eggs that I can see the chicks moving inside, will see if they hatch!

About half are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and the rest are either Lavender Orpingtons or Lavender Orpington/Rhode Island Red or White leghorn mixes.

I don’t have any purebred chickens and I don’t know if I could ever go for just one breed, but gosh, lavender orps are pretty!

Crooked Chicken, Stuckinlove:
How are things progressing?
Well, still nothing on the remaining 5 eggs. I did open it once more to move chick to brooder and float tested the eggs. No movement whatsoever on the eggs. Giving them a few more days.

The chick is doing awesome - almost 2 days old. Took some pics earlier today and I think it's a girl. Mom is Barred Rock and dad is Rhode Island Red or EE. No white spot on head. I read on another thread that either combo will create black sex links.

Ruby is super fascinated. The chick sees her and pecks on the side of the brooder.

So cute! How many eggs did you start with?

Originally 36. Went down to 26 when I culled out the infertile and quitters. Still have 5 in the incubator. One I am pretty sure quit a few days ago but they other 4 still had movement last night when I candled them. Will see what I find when I get home from work tonight.
