I got a few more pics.

Well, still nothing on the remaining 5 eggs. I did open it once more to move chick to brooder and float tested the eggs. No movement whatsoever on the eggs. Giving them a few more days.
I'm sorry that the other five arn't progressing :( hopefully they will do something in the next day or so!! And your dog is super cute with the little chick!!

I got a few more pics.

The yellow chick is the EE and the black are Ayam Cemani? So cute!

I really don't expect any of the remaining eggs to hatch. Already saving eggs to try another batch. Wish I could figure out how to get the temp to quit fluctuating so much. And it always happens during the few hours I sleep. :/

I hear you. I had two and ended up adding a third thermometer. All in the same spot, they said wildly different things, like 99-105. Finally, two weeks in, they all settled on about the same temp, within a degree, after the assorted shuffling of the incubator so far. Which is right? No idea.

So of the 3 that hatched one is a
Silky
Ayam Cemani
Jersey Giant mix. Not sure what was mixed.

Well, I decided to remove the eggs from the incubator this afternoon. The EE egg had barely developed at all, which is probably why I couldn't see anything. The other 4, 2 of them had that slightly bruised look where the air cell was -- those were fully developed and most of the yolk absorbed. One mostly developed, but had a lot of yolk left. The last was well developed but possibly shrink wrapped?

Thinking back, it may have been poor judgment to lay the eggs down for lockdown rather than keeping them in the cartons as they had been.

My lone baby, Eve, is doing really well and so strong. We love her!

My next try will be laying down for the full 21 days. I want to get the Brinsea Mini II Advance sometime in the near future.

Second set of eggs in lockdown! 11 Cuckoo Bluebars and 1 Welsummer.

Candled the third batch of 15 Marans and 4 Welsummers (Day 10) and, sad to say, it looks like 5 of those Marans are quitters: 2 definite clears, one ring of death, and 2 just not as solid as the other eggs.

What is the ring of death?
Can't see your photo -- I get an error message:

"The ring of death" is a blood ring. It happens when the developing egg dies and the blood from all the little spiderwebby veins pools in the egg creating a ring around the shell. It almost looks like a pencil line drawn around on the inside of the shell.

And in case it didn't come through...
