I'm on day 9 now, candling is tomorrow night. I had a little temperature mishap. The humidity dropped a little, so I added more water and dumped water all over the thermometer. When I did that, it didn't bounce back like I thought it should, so I grabbed my reptile thermometer that I've used in the brooder before, just to check. Now I don't know what to believe. The incubator says it's 103; the mercury thermometer provided with the incubator is 99.0 (it did eventually bounce back up to almost what it was before getting wet) and the reptile thermometer says 100.6. Shrug. I'm going to go with the average and hope for the best.

Good luck!!

Well, color me surprised. As expected, two were iffy to start with, oddly shaped, rough eggshells. One is almost certainly not growing, but it wasn't totally clear, so I put it back anyway. The other, lumpy and cracked, actually showed some development, so that went back in as well. I've been wrong before and have hens today that I would have never had if I had tossed what I thought were duds. And the other 21 look terrific, fertile and growing! That was one busy rooster at that orchard!

The end of day 21 (hatching day). 23 out of the 29 that went to lock down on day 18 have hatched. :celebrate6 left 1 was pipping. :bow

Happy hatching everyone!!!:thumbsup

That's a great number. Maybe you can post a pic of the babies?

You might set the cracked egg off to one side so that if it leaks or burst won't contaminate the whole shebang, or dare I say, toss it.

Well, third times the charm!

A a good incubator helps too....

I got another batch of Ayam Cemani eggs after NONE of the others had hatched. This time though, I picked up a hovabator 1602 that someone used to hatch reptiles twice. Paid $30!!

Tossed in the auto turner and I noticed temp and humidity stayed a lot more steady.

Out of the 8 eggs, 5 hatched all on day 21! Mind blown.....

Now I got to find the hack article for the mods to it and figure if I should put a fan in.

4 of the 5 eggs hatched.
