Awe!First two are out. Both paint. 5 more external pips (2 backwards), all have internally pipped but one.View attachment 3301039
Thanks! Yes I am home for this one.Awe!
The 2 backwards...so they pipped the opposite end? Are they makin any progress? Are you home or is DD handling this hatch?
I hope my new babies look like these beautiful buffs!
Hahahaha the mob that just make me giggle !Thanks! Yes I am home for this one.
9 have hatched so far, the two “backwards” (pipped wrong end) are out, they needed a little help, just opening enough for them to finish out the process on their own and push out. Two are still working on it.
One is DIS so far. Possibly a second, that has not internally pipped. Most babies this hatch are Paint. That yellow chick down is so bright, it looks dyed.View attachment 3301403View attachment 3301404
And the “mob” just woke up!Coming out from under the heat for breakfast. Little black seeing impaired baby is holding her own. I moved the dishes she was used to in with her and she is finding them just fine.

It’s because the babies are dumb and it’s to keep them from drowning. After about a week of age they don’t really need it anymore. So technically I could just take these out at this point. I did lose a chick once to drowning in the water so I’m a little paranoid. This chick though is seeing impaired, so taking a little extra precautions with her. Also why the container is a little higher.Just curious @LadiesAndJane, is there a reason you put marbles in the chicks water? Is that to hold it down so it doesn't spill?
