Looks like these 2 will be joint parenting, 1 chick ventured to other nest so now they are in together. So far all ok no fighting and other mumma is caring for other chick too.

Sorry a horrifying question ... But would a hen possibly eat a chick? I didn't find a single feather of the dead chick when I cleaned out the nest

And HATCH ⁷ here we come!!! I really cannot believe I have done 7 hatches in less than a year!!!
But these are ALL BUFF Silkies! By gosh I bet I get one this time around!!!
All 9 are still going strong at candling...had 2 I was concerned about last week when I candled but they must have been asleep lol!

I guess anything is possible with chickens. They are descended from dinosaurs you know. I’m sure if any of us fell over dead in the coop they would snack on us as well.
