Thank you for sharing your experiences with Honey! And thank you so much for all the info about how you cared for her.
I’ll see what I can do for this one, I just have such limited space. Maybe I can find a good pet home for her where she’ll get all kinds of love and attention.
I love hearing all the emotional parts, so please don’t apologize for that! I just lost my dear chicken Frankie, yesterday.
She was my most friendly and most pet like of all my chickens. So I totally get it! They really aren’t just chickens, are they?

They really aren’t :-( I’m so sorry to hear about Frankie! Having to lose any of them is hard but the special ones leave a significant mark when they’re gone

Wow this thread has progressed since I’ve been away!
Got some good news, all of my eggs arrived Thursday morning, (20 in total, 12 from one breeder, 8 from another, since she didn’t have enough to post me 12 and I couldn’t wait another week for her hens to lay more (since I’m hatching under a broody, rather then an incubator). All of them arrived uncracked, so I let them sit for 12 hours, then popped then under the 2 hens. They’re due to hatch November the 10th, but since they’re bantams they could well be a day early. It’s also been exceptionally rainy and humid here, so that could impact it… fingers crossed!

OK! Here we go! We got 2 pips and cheeps this morning! 3rd egg has lots of movement when candled but no external pip yet. (thankfully mama hen got off one more time).

Going old school with this broody, gonna move her and egg/chicks when at least 1 hatches to a crate on the coop floor with no door and let her do her thing. Chick waterers and feeders are washed and out in the run on lower paving blocks, everyone else is of course eating out of those now, but with 4 feeders and 5 waterers we should be good!

If you miss one notification the software assumes that you're not interested anymore and stops sending them.

I make a habit of checking my "Watched Threads" list at least once a week to see if I've missed anything I'm still interested in.
