October Hatch-A-Long

Both just hatched! My old man woke me up to see it. Apparently he has sat over the bator all night

Will post a pic in a minute!Don't be shocked... they look a little malformed for ducks.

The results are in lol. I set 8 eggs from my black Australorp/Blue Orpington flock and 8 hatched, 1 passed away. These were hatched for a friend and are with their new family. Pretty sure at least one is an Australorp/Orpington cross.
12 BBS Australorp shipped eggs from a Taylor farms line, 6 hatched, 1 had external digestive system, had to euthanize. I have 4 blue, 1 splash.
6 BBS Maran/Blue Isbar shipped eggs, 3 hatched. 1 black cockerel, 1 black pullet, 1 blue pullet.
6 BBS Isbar shipped eggs, 2 hatched. 1 blue, 1 splash.

I will be glad when they get more feathers, they spend most of their time under the eco-glow brooder right now. The Australorps are a few days older, so they are out and about more than the Olive Eggers and Isbars.

Well, back to dry incubating for me... what a sad hatch so far! I lost that first baby last night right after I saw it breathing.

Two more were dead this morning.

My pipper is doing well and nearly out and my one Serama egg is pipped and looking good. My Silkies might make it. Almost everyone was terribly malpositioned... darn humidity. I am ever hoping to figure out just the right conditions, but alas, they elude me. Pretty bummed but hope a few make it!

I'm sorry this hatch is not going well. Good luck on the rest!

Thanks! I have two little Seramas and two Silkies are doing okay, so all in all, not terrible... I just feel bad about those little Seramas and wish I had dry incubated this time! Humidity was too high for the Silkies also but I managed to save a couple... one actually had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and was pretty backwards in the shell but is looking okay this morning... we'll see! Sometimes I think the moisture we have here in the Northwest is double strength and not like anywhere else. I took all water out of the bator when I put my duck eggs in last week, hopefully in time for my Seramas that will hatch next week!
