Will you be selling in the spring? what breeds do you have?Got chicks hatching in the bator as we speak, started saving 4-5 a day three days ago, plan is to reset Wednesday...... trying to hatch as many as I can before winter sets in and I cant run the incubator ( we use wood heat exclusively ) I sell whatever hatches from the incubator and keep broody chicks![]()
Thanks! I have two little Seramas and two Silkies are doing okay, so all in all, not terrible... I just feel bad about those little Seramas and wish I had dry incubated this time! Humidity was too high for the Silkies also but I managed to save a couple... one actually had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck and was pretty backwards in the shell but is looking okay this morning... we'll see! Sometimes I think the moisture we have here in the Northwest is double strength and not like anywhere else. I took all water out of the bator when I put my duck eggs in last week, hopefully in time for my Seramas that will hatch next week!
Just put 30 eggs in the incubator for a friend. This is day two. We will see how things go. If they go well I wounded mind incubating for others for the odd hen or two. My kids like it and it keeps them interested in things other than video games and tv.
My two Silkies are doing really well and I think I am in love!!I already want more. I snuggled them for a few hours while our power was out today. They are so funny and fuzzy with their adorable puffy heads!
I hope the rest of my eggs are okay after a 5 hour power outage. I kept putting bags of hot water in the bator and covered it with a down comforter...![]()
Coming to the home stretch! Lockdown starts today!
Of the 24 shipped eggs set, 7 are going into lockdown. 6 of those have definite movement. The last one might have passed in the last two days, but I'm still new and am not totally sure... So, I'll give it a chance, just in case.
