My babies are just a day behind yours... hope to hear something tomorrow!

I hear knocking on one of the eggs thru the incubator... but. No pip on outside of shell.... is this normal! I'm a little freaked but don't want to mess w them for fear of screwing everything up! This is almost as bad as getting ready to have a baby!

It is crazy, right? They have to peck for quite a long time to to pip externally... it is a lot of work for them. I love incubating under a broody because the conditions are just right so even though they are in the bator now they should do just fine. It just takes quite a long time!

Thank you! I know I am using a lot of exclamation points, but this is nuts. I'm hoping I'll see something tonight before I go to bed or first thing in the morning.

My broody didn't know when to stop laying and to sit. All were bad and these two I'm sure I saved from the same end as the gasses from the others would have killed them (or at least that's what I read.) Her nest was rank!

That's normal! It is nerve wracking to listing to them try to escape. But resist opening the bator!

GROSS! Glad you got to a couple of the eggs!

I'm resisting! I'm glad I did too. They are cross of Austrailian silver wing and black east Indies. I got to see the coloring when she kicked one out and the chickens got at it. I used it as a learning experience for the kiddos and myself. We broke it open and they are going to be beautiful!
