October hatch "Grow-a-long"šŸ„

This red cockerel I hatched appears to be developing barring. Itā€™s a surprise given I didnā€™t see a white head spot when he was super downy(and still donā€™t)but iā€™m quite happy with it. I assume itā€™s because his down is so light already. Iā€™m excited to see how he feathers out. Iā€™ve never seen a red chicken with barring before actually.

I also have two mostly-silver chicks who appear to have barring. Given almost their entire bodies are white, itā€™s difficult to tell, alongside the black patterns on their back, but theyā€™ve got the white stripes going through their tails, and in the hackles on one of them. Iā€™ve also come to the realization their father carries the ā€œgoldenā€ gene(heterozygous for silver) which is why he was able to father silver chicks with the hen i put him with(she has the silver gene as well). Heā€™s a black chicken so itā€™s not visible, but i think itā€™s cool.

Beautiful!šŸ„° Looks like a red cuckoo. Will be so interesting to see how he feathers out.

Lonely baby is still lonely but oh so cute šŸ„° Almost 3 weeks old. I decided I didnā€™t trust the lady selling the baby Cochinsā€¦she had parent pics that looked sort of fake šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« so Iā€™m waiting till something more suitable comes along!

Never heard of those before, theyā€™re pretty though. I get the feeling heā€™ll be a lot less fluffy though. The real thing iā€™m curious about is whether heā€™ll darken up to a deeper red. I hope so, deep red is such a pretty color on chickens.

All the babies look great and oh so cute and big.

Here are my 3, I have no idea on gender yet, they are 4 weeks old. The 3rd one has a lot of red leakage. I am thinking the 2 with barring are boys but not sure yet. I hope not, lol
