Hello!
How are you all doing my fellow chicken enthusiasts?

My work life has overwhelmed my personal life.

Oliver is just the cutest!

Because I’ve been so busy I’ve actually sold a lot of my birds, even my Rooster, Eko.
He went to a very good home on another island.
I do have a young porcelain Silkie cockerel, hatched in December from a mainland breeder, that will be his replacement.

I have 3 Silkie pullets left out of the 11 October hatch grow outs;

The Silkies are nowhere near laying age, though my two blue Australorp girls, Dahlia and Camellia are getting closer. Camellia is starting to pink up a lot in her face and developing comb and wattles so I think she’ll be laying first.
Zinnia did indeed end up being a little cockerel and I sold him to someone who wanted him to be a flock sire, lucky boy!

I can’t believe you sold Eko! But I understand cutting back! Your October girls are looking good Gonna have to see your pretty Australorps soon! I was at a poultry show this weekend and the Australorps there were just gorgeous

I'm so sorry you had to rehome Eko! That had to be difficult!
The buff/porcelain....ooh-lalala! Sure hoping my buffs that have some porcelain in em that I got from Bobbi Porto's eggs gives me some babies like this!!!

I'm so sorry you had to rehome Eko! That had to be difficult!
The buff/porcelain....ooh-lalala! Sure hoping my buffs that have some porcelain in em that I got from Bobbi Porto's eggs gives me some babies like this!!!

It was a very tough decision to rehome Eko. Luckily, I found a very lovely home for him with someone who was looking for quality birds. They also bought six pullets from me. Because of my current work life, I need to scale way back on the number of birds, and can only keep one male.
I do have two of Eko’s daughters left, thankfully. Rumi, that is a blue paint, has very similar markings as Eko, so is a nice reminder of him.
I also have his daughter, Kai, from June. She is a gorgeous lighter blue.

Decided I wanted to focus on the porcelain coloring, which is very rare overall and otherwise nonexistent here in Hawaii as far as I know. I don’t have a lot to work with, but I do have a start.

It was a very tough decision to rehome Eko. Luckily, I found a very lovely home for him with someone who was looking for quality birds. They also bought six pullets from me. Because of my current work life, I need to scale way back on the number of birds, and can only keep one male.
I do have two of Eko’s daughters left, thankfully. Rumi, that is a blue paint, has very similar markings as Eko, so is a nice reminder of him.
I also have his daughter, Kai, from June. She is a gorgeous lighter blue.

The porcelain colors are just so beautiful Every poultry show I think of you when I see paints and porcelains I’m glad you aren’t quitting on your fluffers!

Camellia and Dahlia, the Australorp girls.
17 weeks old now.
They were super friendly as chicks, but are currently in their skittish teenage phase so tricky sometimes to get anywhere near them. In the last photo I am holding Camellia, otherwise they was no way I could get that close.
I expect they will return to their friendlier selves after they start laying.
