October Hatching ... How many are in? I'm due to hatch on 10/17

Hatching now....

At least another half dozen Mille Fluer d'Uccles are out, with a good collection of Araucana eggs along for the ride.

Earlier check reveled only one Araucana out so far. Didn't hover to look, wanting to keep humidity up for the rest of the batch.

OK! My surrogate Mom "Lil Mama" the White Silky has hatched at least one baby this morning...too cute! I'm thinking that the baby is a cross of Black Copper Marans and White Leghorn. The baby is jet black and I will post a pic as soon as my heart slows down a bit...

I candeled my eggs tonight. Tonight is day 8 and eight out of eight of my shipped Lavander Orp eggs are developing.

This is going to be my second hatch. The few chicks I got from my first hatch are in my brooder. I know I did just about everything wrong my first time so am learning as I go.

I am in for October. First attempt. Was going to use broody OEGB who quit before the eggs arrived. Have half a dozen cochin eggs purchased from a fellow Backyardigin. So had to purchase a Little Giant Still Air incubator from TSC pronto. Amazed at how easily it was to regulate the temp. Set them in 10/8. So guess I will be candling the 15th. Turning them at least three times a day usually more. Fingers crossed. Wish me luck and I will do the same for all of you.

I was curios what you all do with your chicks you hatch out? I meen do you keep them and use them to lay more eggs? Do you butcher them and put meat in the freezer? Do you sell them and make more money off them?

What do YOU do with your hatches after they are hatched out?

Hey, how are you regulating the temps. I just got a Little Giant and installed a fan. The heat seems to go up on minute and then way down the next. Any hints inkyglory123?

What I don't keep for one of my flocks, I either give away or sell. Depends on the bird. Our quail we eat, the chickens either stay here or go to other homes.
