Alright, this is my first time hatching. First time, and I got a little ambitious. I have a
Brinsea octagon eco 20, but no auto turner or humidity pump. And, then, because I ended up with 66 eggs, I got a Hovabator 1602 w/o autoturner or fan or anything. I have 4 staggered hatches as well. Things got a little tricky. I'm keeping hatching eggs separate from non-lockdown eggs so I don't mess up the humidity or anything.
BUT...I have several thermometers & hygrometers in each incubator and I really have no idea what the temp and humidity is. In my
brinsea, the attached thermometer says 99.8. But, the thermometer resting on the eggs says 36C which is about 97F. And, now that I'm in my first lockdown, I added
3 water-filled sponges to the tray but my hygrometer still says 60% humidity. (Vent is fully open since I'd read that air circulation is most important.) I don't want to touch things too much or mess around with something that may be going well. Does anybody else have this problem? Any suggestions? Should I leave it be & trust that it's good enough? Or should I trust the hygrometers?
the eggs not in lockdown are in the Hovabator right now. The analog thermometer says 103F while the two digital thermometers say 96F. This is where I feel things have gotten tricky. I really just am not sure what to go off of.
I'd appreciate advice from anyone who has more experience than I as to what I should do.
thanks!!!!!
