October Hatching ... How many are in? I'm due to hatch on 10/17

Way to go, txmel. Sounds like this hatch is going much better for you!

No babies made it from my last batch. I guess the box getting lost in the mail did more damage to the eggs than I would have thought. Oh well, Guess I will try again in the spring. Best of luck to the rest of you.

I'm so sorry to hear that, undergroundchickens...

Good luck in the spring, you'll have LOTS of us hatch-a-holics to join up with as hatch-mates.

cute babies ihvpower!

dear diary~

i named the weak one Gomez and he is still around and doing a little bit better. i have him in a teacup right now so that he doesnt puke up the water/food i just gave him. he stands but only when the other chicks or me bother him and then he does this:

and goes back to sleep mode. i have to feed him with a syringe (no needle) because he wont open his mouth to eat otherwise. his eyes are also closed alot of the time. sometimes he looks like he is going to go around and peck for food but he just pecks at his feet and stumbles backwards.

i named the other ones too. the first born one that is bossy is named scrapper, the second born one that follows him around all the time is named toadie and the one w/ a bandaged foot for his curved toe is wembley.

there are four eggs in the incubator that have ??pipped/zipped?? and i hear peeping from them sometimes but they started over a day ago i believe so i dunno if they will hatch. i'm not going to help them though i learned my lesson with gomez although i hope he makes it because he is awful cute and i have grown quite attached to him:)

Tomorrow is day 14 and I think that only 1 of my 22 is still going strong after the box was scrambled by the PO.

I have been spot-candling but I will check all of them tonight.

I was thinking about cracking open the clear ones just for my own education, but at day 14 would that be too gross for words?

Thank you, Pnuts! I think so too

I have a bad feeling about your little one.(Gomez). Maybe because you are hand feeding him, he will gain some strength and be okay though. They are soooo delicate, it's amazing how they survive at all!

I will keep you and Gomez in my thoughts..keep us updated!!!

You are much more brave than am I.

It probably makes no sense for me to leave egg deaths as one of nature's mysteries. I just can't bring myself to crack open the duds! I seal 'em in ziplock bags and discard them in the garbage. Bye, bye, little eggie. It would be too sad to be throwing away little not-hatchlings.
