Odd behavior in one of my chickens. Sick?

Keep us posted on her progress.  If she doesn't show improvement in a day or two, then you will need to re-evaluate.

I hope she gets better soon.

My little Stella died this morning. She was barely alive when I opened the coop and died when I was holding her. I'm so sad. We had her first for a month before the other two came.

Buff O's are such sweet things and friendly birds, such a great photo - this shows their personality perfectly.


Sometimes we just don't know the cause of death. There are so many things that can go wrong.

The only way to know for sure is to have a necropsy performed. If that is something you fee like you want/need to do, then you can send her to your state lab.

Thank you. The livestock disease diagnostic center at UK (univ of ky) will also do it for me. I want my other two girls to stay healthy so I am thinking I will.

This sounds like a good idea. I know it can be difficult to think about, but getting more information will sometimes ease your mind.

If you do send her, if you don't mind, let us know what you find out. This may be helpful to someone else in the future.
