I guess I don't even need much of a body since the title says it all.
I'm considering building a second "brooder coop" area since we have a broody hen sitting on 6 eggs, and I want her to have an area to hatch her chicks.
Since I love to overthink things, I figured after she was finished raising her little ones, maybe we could utilize the now "empty" space to seperate the hens one by one for a week each and figure out how many eggs each average in a week to help with our culling process?
(we have done okay so far, but would love to know more about their habits, since some eggs are so intermittent size and frequency)

Anyone know if this will cause slow down in the egg laying, or undo stress/seperation anxiety?
Just Curious.
Thanks

the best and easiest way without seperation and stress id trap nesting

plus if you seperate them the change in routine will give the wrong results as hens tend to stop laying for a day or 2 if you move them untill they get used to the new place they are in

also seperation will cause stress as they are used to thier friends and being flocking birds could cause mortlity from it

trap nesting is like putting a door on the nest box so they can go in but cant come out unless you let them out

that way you let them out and know the egg your collecting is theirs

the thread should help you there
