I went to the ENYSPA show today and came back with 5 old english game bantams. A trio of black breasted red, and a pair of Self Blue. What do you think of them? They BBR hens are so tame. You can reach in and pet them. I was amazed how tame they are. I paid $25 for the trio and $20 for the self blues.

I'm curious to see what everyone is going to say!

I was looking at the SMALL bantam birds, because I think I want to add another breed to break up the monotony of the Silkies, and I was speaking to an OEG breeder. I LOVED this breed, and especially LOVED LOVED LOVED the Crele variety. But I couldn't have them because to show them you are supposed to Dub them, which is surgically removing the comb at birth. I dont know that I could do that myself.

But I love these little guys! I think your Self Blues are GORGEOUS!

Buff Silkies are a little harder to find.I have 1 Buff Roo. Trying to decide who to pen him with to get nice looking offspring. I have a mixture of hens to choose from.

I agree about the dubbing - wish there were two catagories! Dubbed and non-dubbed! Keep the combs on! They grow such pretty ones, too!
And I love your self blues - I have a hatchery self blue, just grabbed her at the feedstore one day on impulse, and I'm crazy about her..she's a little crazy about us too, if I were gonna have a house chicken, she'd be it! She comes running up and rides on my shoulder while I'm out in the pet area, like a parrot.
I always thought the little birds would be more flighty, but this little blue bird, and another OEGB have shown me different, you have very nice birds there!

It is amazing how much these little birds are loved. We have BBs and showed them at the state fair. He came in second because he had his comb on. They are such a gentle little bird aren't they? At least ours are and you stated yours were. Is it because they are show birds or because they are too cute not to handle? I do know around here people pay big bucks for them. Your lucky to have gotten a trio for that price. I paid that for just my male BB. Pretty birds enjoy them
