Vel pulled the vehicles off the road, she moved the NightWings body, and she searched to assist any survivors.
There weren't any.
Six cars in total. Ten people had died.
Because of some idiots ego.
Vel lumbered back to the CloudWing, rage boiling in her heart.
The blood was staining the sand. A lot of sand.
The CloudWing watched her, his gaze steady, yet unfocused.
"Don't faint, now." She growled, snatching his talon back from his neck. The blood dripped steadily, and she hissed, shaking her head. "More pressure. You
cannot let up, this is
bad, okay?"
Vel glanced back at the freeway, the steady sound of car alarms blaring. Police would be here soon. The SDP. And then she'd be drugged up and useless.
She shifted her scales to match the flat desert sand, moving to reposition the CloudWing's talon. Vel met his strained gaze, shoving his talon back down on the wound. "That hard. No-" she moved his talon back. "
That hard. Or you're legit gunna die out in the mide of nowhere like the complete idiot you are." She gave a fake smile, rolling her eyes. Vel scanned his body for more injuries, but, other than the odd feathers sticking up at strange angles, he seemed in generally good condition.
"We have to get back to the dunes. That's a twenty minute flight. There we can try to stop the bleeding."
It felt like she was talking to the sand. He wasn't
really listening to her, was he? The haze clouding his eyes and his trembling talon weakly clutching his neck- she shook her head.
This dragon was going to die.
But Vel refused.
She couldn't let him.
Wouldn't let him.
