Yes painful. Wegot has a point about bum wrists. I have troubles with mine too sometimes so I know that it can get in the way of pushups and some dumbbell moves.

To be able to still work the pushup muscles, I stand in front of a upholstered chair, put my hands on each chair arm and do straight-body pushups that way. That way the hand is curving around a soft surface, rather than smack straight on the floor at an awkward angle. It's not a real pushup, but I bet doing a bunch of those will certainly assist in increasing the number of real pushups when your wrists feel better.

[why am I being so serious??? I'm boring myself!]

I wonder if doing them on your fists (with your fists on something cushy) would help the wrist issue? Must experiment. Although my wrists are about the only thing that don't bother me at one time or another.

I used to work for a group of architects who would drag me into the Conference Room for a Talk once in a while*. Needless to say I developed a permanent fear of conference rooms in general. I even avoid some large dining rooms these days...

So, if you are wanting to misbehave, take yourself into the conference room and berate yourself for a few minutes until you feel like crying, then plot revenge on yourself when you get back to your desk.

Need I say that was the only job I didn't give proper two-weeks notice to. One day they invited me to the conference room and I declined by gathering my stuff and walking out the door for good.

I'll try that too. I've tried doing them with my hands on dumbbells keeps them in a more natural position, but my dumbbells are the hard ugly gray metal kind, and that hurt a lot.

If using furniture, make sure it can't move first.

We have wood floors.

Was glad there were no witnesses when I learned this rule for using furniture when exercising....

I still don't feel good. I told a coworker that and watched her (already 8 feet away) back away from me unconsciously. I was taking a dose of DayQuil at the time. Another push-up inhibitor. But also an appetite suppressant

BTW, fisted push-ups still hurt, as the stress on the wrist bones is the issue.

Been there, tried that. My wrist bones grind together and make me want to cry.

I know that dear, that's why I so humanitarianly excused you with the assurance that you would get some chocolate eyeballs.

'Kay.

I already do 30 leg lifts per leg, one set sideways and one set upright. Plus crunches, and other stuff. And if I keep taking this Dayquil I won't need the eyballs. I don't even crave chocolate when I take this stuff. I must really be ill.....

Alright ladies, I just completed such a largely massive lunch from Taco Bell that I wish I had some small peeping children in a nest somewhere I could go feed the excess to.

I have wrist problems as well, but can probably still do a decent push-up or twelve. or two. No seriously, two if I'm lucky.

Lori, I really am sorry that you're feeling lower than whalesplort. I hope you kick whatever's ailing you, soon!

PS: The core is the most important part of your body. And all the stuff you're doing is working it. That's really good. Pushups don't do much except for shoulders, pecs and a little bit of upper back, and you don't need all that stuff for balance and agility.

I don't know why he leaves all the research to me when I know jack about anything mechanical/technical or otherwise having to do with construction.

Down here heat pumps are the most common heating/cooling systems, so I assumed we'd install something like that. I have no idea what brands are good. We installed a Trane on our old house and didn't have any problems with it, but we didnt' really research other options at the time. If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it!

I know a little about it, I own a plumbing and HVAC company with my hubby.

Air source heat pumps or ground source heat pumps? (I am not familiar with what is most typical in your area, I will admit that!) The tax credit for ground source heat pumps is different, it's 30% of the installation, no $1500 cap.

What does your house have right now (i.e. forced air, air conditioner, etc.)? Brand doesn't matter.

Trane is a good brand but not every HVAC contractor can work on them.

We have forced air, I think. The paperwork on the house said it was electric heat, but not baseboards or anything, there's a big green box in the basement that makes all sorts of noises and warmish air comes out of floor vents. It does both heating and cooling.

We have an (older than dirt) man that comes to the house to service the unit and last year he said our heating unit has 4 coils and 3 of them are busted, so the system puts out very little heat. Fortunately, we have a woodstove with a hood and blower that ties in to our ductwork, so we didn't freeze last winter.

The outside air conditioner unit started making very strange noises and quit working during an unseasonal heat wave in August.
