When we had the bad drought 2 years ago, we used to 'joke' about how we have a bubble over our house. It was exactly like you describe: We'd watch rain clouds form, could actually see the lines of rain falling all around our area, but we'd have blue skies directly overhead. It was seriously depressing.
I learned to love our bubble when bad storms went through our area last spring. Big trees smashed down all around us, but we had nothing worse than a stiff wind. I'm just grateful the bubble isn't keeping today's rain away. My baby redbuds & lilcs need it! Not to mention the maters and hers for future sghetti sauce...
