Silkies are always in their own little world....

Yseterday I served beverages at the high school for band camp. My daughter made eye-contact and smirked at me, but otherwise refused to acknowledge my existence. Luckily, the lady I was working with didn't even get eye-contact from her son, so I didn't get my feelings hurt too badly.

Last night, I was joking about the "Can't Just Say Mom" tag, and how the other kids wouldn't 'get it." (much like Buffy)
My daughter gave me a stern look and said, "I'd have gotten it and I'd have been furious!!"
I said, "Yeah, I told the BYC peeps that part, too."
She rolled her eyes at me. I get that a lot...

Too Funny, How old is she? My daughter is 16 and I have to bring her tomorrow for the ole driving test with DMV....

I told her the day she drives I turn in my license. She got all pissy and said yeah right rolled the eyes and stomped away. No humor I tell ya!

Morning all! I tell ya, after an 8:00 a.m. visit to my favorite chiropractor I see things so much more optimistically! Some girls get their hair done, some get their nails done, some even shop, but my monthly splurge is the chiropractor!!!!
So, I got this dusting can of "stuff" from TSC that they claim is diatomaeous earth, but nowhere on the can does it say "DIATOMACEUOS EARTH"! There are a lot of other big words that I cant remember how to spell and it says its for dusting birds with mites and vegetable gardens...so is that what I need?
DH's GMA is still holding on as of the last update.
DS1 and DS2 (I sometimes think of the as Thing1 and Thing2 from the Cat in the Hat) are off to their 3rd day of Vacation Bible School. They feel very honored because pastor himself chauffers them from daycare to church. He is now guest #1 on DS1's b-day list. Cute.
Made Bacon/Tomato/Egg sandwiches for supper last night, we've been avoiding cooking at all costs because the house heats up, and the grill needs to have a few minor repairs done so that we dont have FIRES every time we turn it on....
The weather is SO freakin nice, I have been seriously pondering the possibility of surviving on teacher's pay just to have summers off....

I too hate cooking big meals and heating up the house. We have been living off of quick stuff like BLT's, Omelets, and salads. Let me know how the teacher thing works out I would love my summers off!! Don't know about dealing the all those kids though

Since most of my work is caught up, thanks to two late nights, I am able to say

before 3 pm! LOL!

Took my recently hatched chicks to Cetawin - she's gonna keep them for a week or two. She things one is black and the other dark blue. I dont' know. As things have been going thus far, the one may actually be black but it'll be a boy.

Caught and killed another raccoon this morning - that makes two in two days.

Still broke. Don't know when that will change. Probably never.

My kids don't have too much problem acknowledging me at school functions. But then, I've never served punch at band camp, so who knows!LOL!

J hooked up the generator to the camper last night. We had lights on after dark AAANNNNNDDDD fans. It was almost like being human. He said, "I bet I know what will be the topic tomorrow on the chicken board." Yup! Camp Batty has power!!!!

Mare's leg is healing fine. I'm gonna take pics in the next day or two. The proud flesh is shrinking. Should heal up just in time for her to cut something else open. Oh, and the foal's hernia is actually very small. J could only get one finger inside her abdomen so it looks like we can band it and be ok.

Other than that, nother day nother dollar I owe.......

I wouldn't let LadyHawk tend your chicks. They will come back expecting sliced grapes and butt-kissing...

DD is 14, will be 15 on Jan 4th.
I shared some of the things I heard from other parents yesterday and she agreed I'm not the embarrassment that I could be. And yet she still doesn't want me talking to anyone she knows until she's better friends with them

Batty, you should skin those coons and sell the pelts in your store. Advertise it as a "Gen-u-wine Coonskin Cap Kit". Make those little buttheads earn you some $.
If there were a coon dog club in your area I'd say call them and see if they want to come train their dogs for a few days. When Grandpa bred coon dogs he loved training the dogs in an area with definite coon activity.

on the horse issues. Tending wounds and worrying is no fun.

LOL!! When I took the blue cockerel over there last week end I apologized to him before I handed him to Cheyenne. Told him sorry, but he was now in the land of cuddling and he'd better just get over it.

Oh boy 14 going on 15 ((((no comment)))

Well, I could never understand the wording of proud flesh! I have encountered this many years now and have worked for Vet's and told them It's nothing to be proud about couldnt' they find another term? All I got was not response. But, that does make me think twice when hearing it. I hope the Mare heals up nice with little scaring and your probably right in the sense of she'll just go do something else! My Mare got into everything for the first 5 years. Now she is 13 and only does dumb things like stepping on a poultry carrier with a chicken in it and getting her foot stuck and looking at me like it's my fault??? Um No

WHOA...don't get all crazy on me. We don't have AC - we're not that progressive.

Ut-oh no AC?? Gosh I can't live without that. My DH wants to go live off the land more on a MTN somewhere and I said only if it has a generator for AC, Running Water, and my computer w/Internet!

Running water - check
Internet - nope
A/c - nope
refrigerator - nope

I thought it would be horrible, but honestly it's not that bad. The flies are driving me insane but they are bad everywhere. And I try remind myself, we are in a 8 acre field surrounded by horses and chicken. There are gonna be flies.

The worst part about being way out there is the raccoon and the coyotes. We have lots of both
