I set mine! I cracked one while messing with the trays. Or I might have cracked two. But I only found one cracked. I swear I heard another one. Weeeeee. This is starting out interesting.

I ended up setting 53 eggs from K. dale also!!!

What do y’all run your humidity at?

Hoping to get some chicks from my favorite roo (eggs marked W for mostly white tux) while he's presumably still doing his job. Other two were collected from a different cage with pharoah/italian combo.

I keep my humidity around 30% until they start to pip. If the humidity doesn't go up to 50-60% by itself at that point, I'll add a water container to get it there.

my quail eggs will hopefully arrive tomorrow.....i forgot about the monday holiday and i’m pretty sure zack did too because the plan was to ship them Saturday.....but still a good chance of several hatching on halloween

11 quail eggs total. Meant to get that in and (obviously) forgot. xD

Well today’s the day — 56 coturnix eggs in. We’re using the biggest eggs from our biggest girls, plus 2 dozen purchased ones just in case. I set extra because some of ours are up to 2 weeks old.

I wasn’t able to make my egg arrivals align with Halloween but I’ll share them here once they hatch anyways, as a precursor to all the properly timed hatches. Haha. I’ve got quail eggs due this weekend and 3 Swedish hedemora eggs due in a week that are looking good.

So, I had a surprise while checking on my Silkie tractor this morning: newborn silkie chicks. Both my Silkie hens were sitting, so the babies have 2 mothers. Temperatures here are down to the 30's at night and 60's during the day. Will the little ones be ok with their mothers outside, do you think?
