Ended Official 2021 BYC Other Fowl Molt Contest

Ok, I’ve got to pass along the message to my girls that IT’S TIME! The only one who has done any molting yet has been my white Muscovy, who only lost the top layer of chest and abdomen feathers, leaving her down, which made her exceptionally soft and fluffy for a bit. Everyone else is still hanging on to their old worn-out feather suits!

My muscovy aren't molting yet either. My turkeys are working on it, my geese are done, and my chickens haven't started yet either. Every year is different. This year's molts are running late. :)

My chickens are almost done. They have all done soft molts. Some of the turkeys have done soft molts. The ones that have insisted on being broody are getting ready to have really hard molts. The two wild turkeys that have moved in are already done with their soft molts.

The guineas as always are going through soft molts.

Only if I seen this sooner. I have a Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock that started molting a month ago, & is still molting.

I'll get a picture, or two later. Other birds are just starting to molt also.

Are Your Other Fowl Molting?
We Want Your Pics!

It's that time of year again where our birds start their metamorphosis into... well, okay, they don't turn into anything, but it sure is interesting to see them go through their molting process and leaving feathers all over the place!
