For the molting contest "all other breeds" this is Chippy, our brown leghorn gal molting! She's hanging onto the one little tail feather! Hahaha
She's also super grumpy right now from her molt, and not talking to the other birds View attachment 1539969

Poor little Chippy, she does look kind of cute with that one little tail feather!

Yeah she does she's a good girl, but she runs that coop on a normal day, even though she's not near as big as the other chickens haha. With her molting, the other hens are terrified of her at night on the perches! Bless her heart. Going to have some beautiful brown feathers soon and be in a better mood

My molting baby

Bless! Almost looks like over mating with her back feathers all gone like that! Do you have a rooster? Only reason I ask is because we had to get saddles for a few of our girls this happened to from the roo over mating. It was starting to cut their skin and we had to get stitches on one of the buff orps. She's a cutie though! Is she a maran? We just got a few of them

If she will let you, you can rub the feather capsules and get them top pop open a bit. Many molting hens like that!

This is "Crazy-Black-Hen" (to distinguish her from "Beautiful Black Hen"). This is the best she's looked this whole summer! Poor thing has been mostly pink for months.
