This is my poor Easter Egger Bunny. She started molting in August so she looks slightly better now but not much.

THIS is what she usually looks like.

She’s turning 4 at the end of this month so the poor girl has been molting very hard the last couple years.

Yikes! I should have taken a photo of Perky! She is my naked neck. She has half a feather left on her tail and otherwise she is more than half naked and hideous. Her new feathers are finally making a run for it. She's been sleeping in the nest box because I guess she can't fly to roost. And yes, she is laying eggs now (she wasn't for a month or so).

Chickens Are Molting - We Want Your Pics!

It's that time of year again where our birds start their metamorphosis into... well, okay, they don't turn into anything, but it sure is interesting to see them go through their molting process and leaving feathers all over the place!

The contest is simple: Post pictures of your birds in the worst part of their molt. Once we're past the molting season our esteemed panel of judges will pick a loser... er... winner!

Prizes:

The first place winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the BYC Store and the second place winner will receive a free 6 month Premium Feather Membership for themselves or a friend.

The rules are simple too:

1. Must be your chicken
2. Must be a picture taken THIS YEAR, so probably within the last few weeks and over the next couple months (depending on your climate, birds, etc.)
