Hey, I think the winners should post before and after pictures.

I did post an after picture earlier... hard to recognize her as the same chicken!

Congratulations to all who entered and thank you for the laughs! Silkiesnfrizzke, that was one ugly molt! Maybe we should cross our bloodlines and see if we can get the worlds ugliest chicken?

Thank you so much! This is so exciting!

Good ol' Speckles, bless her. She is a very funny hen. She once lived on the perch for months after she was wounded by our rooster (we dealt with that) and she was presumably traumatised. We fed and watered her there and treated her wounds (albeit very minimally!) and kept her with some docile hens... in time she found her confidence again and now she is feistier than ever.

What added to her terrible moult look is that ludicrous crop of hers! It appears like she has pendulous crop but she has been that way for a long time and it never seems to bother her at all. Lately she has spent some time jumping to get blossom off the fruit trees.

Here is a recent photo of her, fully feathered.

Thanks again and sorry to have taken some days to respond. Whilst we still have the family flock, which includes Speckles, the last of "my" girls (who were part of the flock) died earlier this year and I haven't been on here very much as have been a bit down about it.
