She is rocking the punk hairdo here as the new pin feathers on her head push her remaining head feathers straight up!

poor Alice! her molt is gloriously awful but she seems to hold her head high nonetheless in anticipation of a crown! Winning a 2020 Worst Molt contest is an especially Epic Disaster title so good luck to this Araucana contender!

May I introduce "Frankie" short for Frankenchicken. She is a circa 5 year old hen that we adopted after she was attacked by a predator. She had her comb eaten off and her neck bit into. Somehow she got away. Her last remaining sister was not so lucky. Hence, she joined our flock. Now she is almost healed and started to molt, making her look even tougher and rough. Lol
Poor thing came originally from one of those beak cut batches and barely had a beak. To say the least, we are spoiling her now in her final golden months or hopefully years.

Yep. All chooks go through it at one point. Honestly it's quite er...ugly but...we try to support the chickens going through it.

Yes, have one now starting, at first i thought she was sick! Then looked it up and realized she was molting! Yikes, tons of feathers strewn about! I'll wait to see if she ends up with a picture worthy molt! Newbie chicken(s) owner!!

Sorry @zazouse , I’ve never seen a completely bold chicken before just from moulting. Too fast and too much!
