Ended Official BYC Contest: Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall / Winter 2011

I can't compete with some of these entries, mine are mostly just missing their tails and look a little shaggy. Although Tiger finally hit the "ugly" stage of her molt this week. My husband came in the other night and asked if she was molting or if someone was plucking her neck! Here's what she looked like yesterday afternoon:

This one isn't as good since she was moving and got her beak cut off in the photo, but it shows how sad the one side of her neck looks:

Well here's the worst I have this fall. Her name is Chuck, short for Woodchuck.

She is (or was) a speckled sussex.

Wow... None of my girls have ever molted as bad as the majority of these! I had a grand time going through the pages here -- some were just downright hilarious!

I don't have one to submit -- I haven't take pics while the molts are going on. Nutty and Duchess are almost done with theirs now, but Nutty looked pretty bad for a while. Wish I had gotten some pics... Oh well.

Maybe one of the others will molt before this contest ends!

Wow. Glad someone pointed me to this thread. I'd posted pics of my Stella already asking for reassurance that she was just molting. She's just started and part of her neck is bare and she's lost her pretty tail feathers.

I sure hope she doesn't end up like one of the chickens posted here! Poor babies!
