I've had chickens now for almost 2 years. Started with silkies, buff brahmas and Novogens. Now I have 1 buff brahma, 2 Novogens, 3 silver laced Wyandotte's, and 2 Welsummers.

I grew up with chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese on a small family farm and I really missed having chickens.

I've had them off & on since I was a kid, just during the last year have been able to get them again. I love, love, LOVE my chickens! And have guinea, ducks, turkey, Bobwhite, Coturnix, goats & dogs too.

OMG that goat is the cutest thing I will see in my entire life.

9 years this time...had chickens for 10 years when i had small children...and ducks too! still loving it! 25 right now...some fancy some just regular chickens...some bantams...all lovely and adored!

When we finally bought our dream property in 2017 and started hobby farming with the constant and beautifully unreachable goal of homesteading. It is always nice to be moving in a sustainable direction and to have a goal :) Started with a flock of 3 Orpingtons and now have 12 of 8 breeds.

I have always wanted chickens but my parents never let me until I was 14 and let me order 17 baby chicks from My Pet Chicken. 1 didn't hatch, a couple died as chicks, and 1 died as an adult. Needless to say, I still have the flock of 12 and they are doing beautifully! Next year they will need to be replaced since they will be 4 years of age but I will still keep them and spoil them all the time!

4 years old doesn't mean you must replace them.
