I've got about 50 girls and 6 roosters plus 20 white rocks for meat.
I've got another 42 eggs in the bator and two broody hens sitting!!

16 chickens (and 4 ducks). I sold quite a few roosters and hens in July to keep expenses manageable. Awfully quiet around here!

Is that really true that your own chickens will eat you? No way, seriously? Ugh

I ordered 4 Roosters, and wound up with 6. Since we got these for eggs and they were always intended to be more like pets than the broilers that I'll get next year, we'll just keep them as they seem to get along just fine. Plus, I plan on getting a couple more Welsummers, GC Marans, Buckeyes, and a couple each of Black Copper Marans, Barnevelders, Sicilian Buttercups, Blue laced Red Wyandottes, Buff laced Polish, and I'm sure we'll wind up with a couple hens out of the Delaware or Dark Cornish males I'm going to get for broilers.
