I lost 3 to a neighbors (feral) cat. Climbed straight over the fence. Another was a neighbors dog. I didn't lose any chickens but almost. The dog jumped over the (6ft) fence and broke the lock off of the coop access door and the nest box.

I lost another two turkeys to raccoons a couple of nights ago. Human error, did not properly shut the gate. Still, it tells me that these raccoons test the gates EVERY NIGHT. Makes us all more vigilant. I seriously hate raccoons.

Our worst predators in the past have been hawks. When i first started out it took me a little while to figure out what was taking my birds. I kept focusing on my ground attack for predators. Until that one day the hawk slipped up and let me see him. Needless to say no more chicken buffet for him. Now we keep netting over our pens. The use of netting also gives a good sence of security for keeping those couple chickens that always get out in. lol

Sounds like a fox..

A yote would have ate your dog.

Try a radio playing. All day and night
Spray apple cider vinagar around
Plug up holes
Get a few solar night guards
