My dog grabbed one of my chickens when they were about 2 months old and I got so mad at him and I kicked him, he’s a super nice dog normally so I was surprised. He hasn’t gone near them since and my head hen used to chase him before she was stolen
SToLeN?

As to rooster's aggressiveness? I have 25 free ranging roosters, free ranging 24 hours a day with them roosting up in my hayloft. They have lived peacefully together for several years now, with a few losses to the neighbors trio of dogs. Young varmints and aggressive cats do not fare well. I CAN pick a fight with the leghorns, the welsumers all just squak and run.

I had to say Hawk. We free-range our chickens, and the most numerous attacks are foxes (several each year). But in every case, we were able to scare the fox off (or one of our Wyandottes faced them off and won!) We had injuries, but they all healed. We've lost one hen in all these years - to a hawk - when she got trapped up against the coop trying to escape.
