Black Marans, Fuzzy and Eggnog. Both were given to us by some friends after a dog killed 3 of our chickens. Eggnog died of respiratory problems a little afterwards, but Fuzzy established herself as flock queen and maintains a peaceful flock. I love the iridescent feathers! So pretty in the sunlight.

Just a Black Marans hen and my silkied Black Cochin bantams at the moment. In the past, I also had a Black Australorp and a Black Silkie. I guess I really haven't had many solid black chickens in my years! I do have Barred Rocks, an Ancona, Mottled Cochin bantams, and a Birchen Marans as well for mostly black chickens, though. And I'd love to have woolly Svart Hona some day, too. :love

Anyway, since pictures were requested, here's a few of my silkied Black Cochins 🥰

I meant to add...
My pure black EE hen, Pepper Sprout passed on, she was an old gal.

Here's a young EE Roo, he was all black until this past Oct. when he molted, now mostly black with some golden feathers, a handsome & sweet boy...I call him Bo Jangles because he looks like he dances to his hen 😄
