In addition to my black Midnight Majesty Maran hen, Eleanor, I have an Iowa Blue rooster -- very stately and partially white -- and two Iowa Blue hens. None of the three appear even remotely blue.

I was just reading about that breed in a book I got for Christmas -- how they aren't really blue, but "black to bluish grey" with patterning.

I have 3 AC I hatched recently, a BCM, a black frizzle, I have one black polish, I have one black EE (brown egg though), I have 2 LO split to black eggs coming, so I don't know if they will go black, I have 2 black sumatra eggs coming, and 2 blue orpington eggs coming, but they may surprise me and go black as well. Also I have 3 blue andelusian eggs coming. BA may also go black.

I have 2 black Dutch (small bantams).
Their names are Black and Pearl. Almost 8 years old.

Do you have a pic of your Prairie Bluebell? I’ve not come across too many straight black ones. Ours was sold in a bin with a bunch of Australorps, she was the only PBE in the bunch.

We have other Easter Eggers in our flock and really enjoy them. Our Aubery (short for Aubergine, lol) is VERY shy, however, she is quite observant and agile. The gears are always turning in that head of hers.

She’s not quite to laying age, but definitely looking forward to seeing the eggs/production in comparison with our other Eggers with Leghorn being in the mix.
Here she is along with her blue egg in the mix today! Just started laying a couple weeks ago. She’s not much for personality. Doesn’t stand out in the flock and is very flighty. I also have a couple EE. One laid green eggs but then had poor production and then stopped laying altogether. My other laid blue eggs but she’s on winter break, I guess.
