I have a pip!!! It's a couple of days early and I don't really expect it to hatch before tomorrow. But I really thought I was seeing things when I looked in there and it looked like my egg was cracked. My temps have been around 100 - 100.5 in my circulated air hovabator so that may be why its a little early. I hope everything is ok!!
Last night my daughter and I took out the turner and laid the eggs down. Last time I just laid them on the wire. However, when the little guys started poping out, they were playing soccer with the other eggs. I even saw 2 who were trying to get out, get run over and they died. Even with that, I had 29 of 36 hatch and make it to the brooder. I did open the bator and take out the hatched ones when they were dry. so, this time I took some packing foam paper- I am not sure what it is called but it was wrapped around a mirror I bought at Lowe's- and cut egg shaped hole and set the eggs in those. That should add some stability.
I set 36 and had to remove one- it had stuff oozing and I am sure it was responsible for the bad smell. I haven't candled, I don't ever. I have upped the humidity and won't open the bator until I need to remove chicks. I know that how I do things goes against many of the rules, but I have had good success. Sometimes I think that if all these rules had to be followed or else- the hen herself would not be able to hatch!
Good Luck to all and a Merry Christmas! Ours are due on Christmas Day what fun!

You get good result and that is more than I can say. I try to follow the rules, but don't always do it to the exact. I think rules are open to interpretation....
technodoll: Bowling!!! Sounds like she wants those chicks out now, or it's some anceint form of "make it happen already" stimulation exercise therapy. Can't wait to hear!
I am also anxious. Apparently no one told my chickies that they aren't due to hatch until Thursday. I now have 5 pips and one 1 of them is zipping!!!! Got to go get the brooder done, more updates later.
