No. Pagans can be believe in creation or evolution. It depends on which path they choose. A pagan can choose to believe in creation as as well as Christ as his/her savior. Similarly, a pagan can choose to believe that God is the universal energy that is in everything.

Give me a second and I will give a good dsecription of pagan...it just take a moment to write it.

LOL! Sounds like I may be a paganistic Christian. One thing I will never doubt is that Jesus was born of a virgin birth for the sole purpose of giving us humans a path to forgiveness. He died for us so that we may live. I will never doubt that. Hoever, apparently, I have alot to leasrn!!!

You very well could be! Christopagans are called that for a reason! I think more people are pagan then they realize!

An example...I was raised in the Methodist church in Wrightwood. However, I was raised (as was my mom by her parents) to respect the earth as it is living too. If you are upset, go sit by the tree and talk to it. It will listen. Don't walk on plants, as you would not want them to walk on you. Also, we were raised to talk and listen to our spirit guides and that our intuition is not to be ignored. Karma, reincarnation, astrology (not the stupid newspaper horoscopes!), elementals, etc. were a large part of my upbringing. To me, we were Methodist...and my mom raised us kind of hippy-ish. Later, I found books and truly began to understand more. I would consider most my Mom's side of the family Christopagan. My mom no longer considers herself christian...I think she calls herself "spiritual". My dad, just says I believe in the weird stuff like my mom and her parents.

Imagine my husbands surprise though! Coming from a highly conservative christian family and marrying into mine!

There NOTHING that I can't talk about with my mom.

Something very interesting i have recently been reading up on is the fact that all major religions have a Dying God of Virgin Birth who Sacrafices himself for OUR sins.. The Mesopatamiens, the egyptians . the celts, the christians and even the old style Jews... I feel that just like with the Gods all being One Being, That Christ/Marduk/Enlil and many other Dying Gods are the same as well.. They are the Human representatives of God... I feel that the Gods can take human form to exact great change in our world.. The same can be said for the Great Flood you can look at most all Relegions and find a similar Flood Story.. I personally feel that the reason we have so many dieties is because We can ALL have a part of God that we realte to better.. They are all the same God/Goddess just in deifferent forms for our Human minds to comprhend.. That IMO is why their are so many similarities in relegions...

Hope that makes sense my brain is still a lil slow this morning...

Well said Coop Crazy! (At least in my very humble opinion...)

Don't forget all the great eastern Religions, such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, and many more.. Many wise aspects to those faiths, also many commonalities with western beliefs. Many which had an "enlightened one" come to teach, as Christ did.

I feel that just like with the Gods all being One Being from coopcrazy's post... I too feel it is all the same "entity". People of different beliefs and backgrounds find their own aspects or characteristics of "it" to worship/study/follow/learn...

Wow is it beautiful! I can not imagine being an Atheist.
Now if people could just stop hating and killing each other over their differences, we could advance as a species.

WOOT! I come here today with a problem that I know I can't discuss and then I see a NEW OFFICIAL PAGAN THREAD???? Surely the Goddess loves me.
So I'm Pagan/Wiccan, very eclectic and still studying to learn more. LOVE, love, love my tarot cards and I tend to do a lot of kitchen magick.
So, I'm at my post-op appt yesterday and while we're waiting with several other people to see the most august doctor himself some nice little old lady starts a conversation with us about some of our adopted, special needs kids. The conversation started when she noticed that Anni is diabetic but when we told her that all five of the adopted kids had special needs she said "Oh, how very Christian of you." Stopped me dead in my tracks. What could I say? Mama taught me to respect my elders so I couldn't tell her that loving kids didn't come under the sole purview of Christians. And I wasn't even really sure what she was talking about because even animals adopt other's young.
Anyway, it's bothered me all night. Literally. I could not sleep as I'll be seeing this woman frequently. What should I say next time? I always, always wear my pentacle proudly so at some point this topic is going to see light of day again.

I would just try to be level headed about it and offer to explain some of your Pagan values to her... If she doesnt want to listen I would just continue being cordial with her and leave it at that... I think a lot of older people have felt that way for so long that it is stuck in there head that if you arfent Christian you arent a good person.. Truthfully though I just Show them that I am a Pagan and Have great values.... Good luck
