Coyote can get you coming in going that's why the first nations people hold him in such high esteem. Coyote can be seen as the clown or the king depending on the situation. Heyoka teaches you to learn to laugh at your mistakes and not to take life so seriously. Listen the the little child in each of you. Children just accept things just as they are. They don't question the whys and what for's.

I'd like to share one of my stories. I right these whenever Spirit leads me to. I watched as this unfolded in front of me at a PowWow.

The Night Heyoka Danced

They danced that day under the scorching summer sun, each with his own purpose for the dance that he danced. Around and around, circling to he rhythmic beat of the drum. Searching for understanding of the mysteries of life. Yet the harder they danced the greater distance they felt between themselves and that which they sought. Frustration building with the heat of the day, they tried without success to connect with the Spirit of Creator. The day grew long and tempers grew short, as anger bubbled just out of sight like molten lava reading to explode. This was not why they had come so far. They came to seek the rapture within Creators arms as voices sung praise to the heavens. Not to be left as parched as the earth on which they stepped.

As the sun slipped into the night, it became clear who would help him bring a great lesson to all. To those who danced, to those who stood by, to those who knew which path to walk, and to those who stumbled upon every step, he was there to show them all lessons that they all must learn.

None had expected to see him, he appeared out of the darkness to everyone's surprise. Wearing not much more than rags, he danced. Dancing with great abandon, allowing the beat of the sacred drum to resonate through his soul. It mattered not who saw his wild steps, nor his rags. What mattered was the purpose for which he danced. Heyoka danced for Creator and for all mankind. He danced to bring joy to the hearts of children. To be the joke so others may lift their head high. He danced to show that one was no better than the other. The coyote, the trickster among men, Heyoka, had many lessons to teach them all.

Some turned away in distaste for what they saw before them. How could this one dance like this?! How dare he show such dishonor to these noble dancers?! For these were blind to what blessing had been placed within their sacred circle, but soon they would know if they dared to open their cold hearts.

It started on a whispered breath, barely reaching the ear. Slowly building so that all could hear. The Children!! The Children!! The children voices rang through the clear night air. They lifted up their voices in honor of one makes them laugh. Reminding all that chose to hear that this life, so precious, is too short to waste on things not of importance. Too short not too take time to laugh. To remind them to seek Creator through the little child that lived within them all.

Heyoka turned to the Headman and bowed a simple bow. As silently as he had come, he vanished into the night, leaving behind his message for all who chose to hear.

Earlier that evening I was off to find something to eat (dancing makes me hungry, lol) and a Grandmother (elder) approached me. I didn't know this woman nor have I seen her since. She told me that I needed to stop playing around and walk the walk I was suppose to. (really werid. Like everybody disappeared and she and I were the only 2 there) "You are the Coyote's Magic! Use your gifts!" She turned and walked into the crowd.

Hindu was second? Huh? And what is a neo pagan? is it a nature worshiper without ritual magic? Occult knowledge and understanding has helped me to see. How about you?

I was right here!! Wasn't me!

You I believe... the smaller ones that were hiding behind the trees... they are the trouble makers.

Yeah.. the thing that gets me is that I stand by the rule of causing no harm to your totem animals... of course the coyote is one of mine.

Are you telling me something Coyote or were you just looking for a little snack?

ETA: Coyote, I love the link in your siggy.. I think I may be adding it to mine as well, I am assuming that you have no problems with me doing so?

I need to look up totem animals again but I'm pretty sure I've discovered one of mine. Or, I apparantly have some sort of issue to work through and the fox is supposed to help. Either way, I seem to be seeing alot of foxes lately.

Matthew Ryan

p.s. I seem to be seeing a lot of young chickens every day as well, could this mean something?

Anyone think us Girls ought to be given a chance? Guys have ruled, quite bloodily, for quite a while.
I vote we give matriarchy a go.

I vote yeah on the matriarchy. I also vote that next war, they send in the women and let the men stay home

Well, if you mean the negotiations BEFORE war then yeah.

Once the boys have botched things it's really hard to fix it.

That whole 'if we only send in another 10000 then we'll "win" mentality... while the 50000 already there die.

Females put a much higher value on EVERY life... IE the "only" 1000 that was just posted...

Only my arse... it's not ONLY to those people's mamas, hubbies, wives, and children.

Shame no one thought to embrace Jefferson's 'trade with all alliance with none' theory.

Ah well, that belief test jobber through me for a loop. Liberal Quakers... REALLY? Mind boggling.

I'm having a LOT of really horrible dreams lately. I know everyone gets nightmares, but all night every night is just not normal. I won't go into detail, as they are all different. Wish I could stop them, I used to be able to lucid dream but I can't any more

I'm getting more and more tired, this on top of being 7 months pregnant and having blood pressure issues... not good. I've been told to rest but can't.

Hey guys, it's been a little while since I've posted here.

The past couple days I have been seeing a lot of snakes, which is somewhat unusual. On my way to work I saw two very LARGE black rat snakes and the past couple of nights I've been having dreams with snakes in them. Sort of strange because there are seasons when I don't see any snakes at all and I've never seen such large black rat snakes in this area.

I looked up info about snake totems and it says they are a symbol of change or of the awakening of a dream. It also mentioned they are a symbol of wisdom and sometimes they mean that a person is opening themselve up to new experiences. I thought that was pretty neat, since twice I've come across snakes "in my path" so to speak. Any thoughts? I've started a new job for the summer and I've been meeting a lot of new people. Perhaps something good will come out of it!
