my dh doesn't seem to understand my need to walk barefoot around the yard. though with the way the former owners of our house left the ground filled with interesting but potentially painful items i have to be careful when i'm walking in the freshly turned soil during garden season. i admit it will take me a few years to get it to look clean and organized enough for me but still like nature intended it.

Back before I recognized that I was a Pagan I moved from beloved Iowa to Texas and that was the FIRST thing that told me I was in the wrong part of the world. I couldn't go barefoot there. Between the grass that will actually cut you, the dry cracks you can fall into and the fire ants intent upon killing you, it's just not a good place to commune with nature. Now I'm in Colorado and while I still don't feel quite at home I CAN walk around barefoot. In fact, my husband was horrified to find me walking around barefoot in a small pen with three draft horses not too long ago. He's such a worrier. LOL!

my favorite is when i used to irrigate between the rows in the garden and then do some weeding while it hadn't soaked into the ground yet. not quite muddy but it was fun. my mom hated to let me in the house that way.

best of 2 elements-earth and water combined! later during the dusk and early night we would sit back under the arbor and admire the stars and the torch light while listening to flowing water in my ponds and the local tree and peeper frogs. such a peaceful way to enjoy Mother Earth and all her glory!

, Foxtails, chicken/dog/cat poop, ROCKS (and they aren't round in these parts! ha ha). I am all for barefoot...just not in my backyard.

edited to add: Debi and I live in the Mojave Desert. The summer alone makes our land require shoes...the dirt has a temp of well over 100!

Sadly, there are too many fire ants in my yard to go barefoot.

[A somewhat cheeky prayer to the Swiss miss, maiden of chocolate (we do believe that the goddess in her many forms, has a sense of humor)

hehe...I like that. Yes, Goddess bless the Maiden of Chocolate....and the God of Coffee!

As far as a BOS, I have one...but there isn't much in there. I do not have a Grimoire as of yet....need to get back into practicing more often.

On another note, we just got back from attending a UMaine girls BB game....my daughter made the Honor roll, so she got a free ticket to a game of her choice, and the rest of us paid regular price....but 2 bucks for my two youngest and 8 for the wife and I. The game was against Vermont, which was why my daughter chose it, as my wife and the two eldest kids lived in Vermont before we met each other. UMaine lost, but it was just nice to spend time doing something together as a family!
Blessings,
Dave

It's not just the rocks and foxtails here. The former tenants left many nails in the yard and clearly thought that beer bottles were meant to be broken.
