Well dag, if my broom falls over across the kitchen doorway does that mean I can use that as an excuse not to go in and clean it??

My sister and I are spirit attractors as well. And we have had some way out weird reactions from people when it happens!! It happens most when we are together, but often other people who are only mildly sensitive will see or hear something when we are together. I wish I could get something more useful from this gift, there have only been a few occasions when I got messages for others which helped that person, usually I get nothing and wonder why the spirit is there....

It sure as the dickens isn't like Ghost Whisperer where she holds these long conversations!

Its more like a text message just shows up in my head. Does anyone know of any way to make this type of thing more useful to others?

(My sister's is really useful, she gets medical diagnoses and medical skills so she went ahead and went into medicine. She's got some mad diagnostic skills!! )

I don't really know how to "tune-in" better. All these years and I haven't figure it out yet.

Our first day in this house (brand new moduler, no one ever here before), Poof up jumps Frank. Looked liked an old gangster. Baggy suit, black shoes, belt and tie. Black, ah, Fedora? the name Capone. That's all I get and he's gone.

Pulled up into the driveway of a friend. She's talking about a ghost. Man sitting in a chair in the hall. Dark hair, eyes, moustash, swarthy? Dark suit. the name Simon. poof gone.

That's all I get most times.

Different guides of mine show up at different times. When I don't safe, my shark guide appears. Hawaiian Shark God, Kamohoalii. Her skin shines gold in the sun. If I need to be wary of something, the wolves begin to howl and coyote yoodles or a woodpecker drums on a tree. If I need to pay attention, I will hear hawk scream. Fear is seen in the eyes of rabbit and deer. Understanding in the signs of my dog, my familar, Spook

ETA---funny thing is my husband says he can tell when it happens by the looking on my face. Somebody see me and say, "what's wrong with her?" the tell them that I'm communing with ghosts.

Anyone out there ever feel the inexplicable urge to eat a plant you are at best mildly familiar with?
I have a bunch of chickweed growing in one of my boxes. It planted itsself, but I love plants and have trouble weeding 'nice' plants (not quite sure how to explain the difference) so I left it. I wasn't using the space and the plant is unobtrusive and rather pretty. I knew nothing more about it than its name and that it is edible. It has been there for months. Last week I came down with a cold that has a nasty cough. Since being sick, I have wanted to eat that plant. At first, I thought it was just the appealing color. But the longer it was, the more I just craved it. I could barely look out the window without feeling the desire to go pick it and eat it. And I do not mean taste it, or make a tea from it... I wanted to eat the whole thing!
So when we ran out of lettuce, I used that as an excuse. I piled a huge wad of it on a sandwich and ate it. (nope, that didn't cure the craving, but at least I wasn't hungry any more!) But then I get curious. I looked it up in my Native American Herbology book and guess what it does? Soothes coughs and sore throats. *shrug*
I know I have a strong connection to plants and I wish I had more knowledge in my head and had to rely less on books. I just wonder if this is a me thing or if any of you have plants call to you when you are sick. I really need to hone this ability, it would be so useful!

Tamara, that is amazing! No, I do not have any special connection to plants.

That would be a handy talent! I have been struggling for years to learn herbology and create an herbal apothecary. For some reason while I can now get almost anything to grow for me, I am not much further along in applying the herbs in a meaningful way. (Except using plaintain for itches - we do that all the time.)

And that is funny! My husband says the same thing! He'll ask me did you see something, what was it?? He gets all interested. I often get more than that, but I do not have a guide that I know of. Last year I started seeing a Marine in full dress blues in my bedroom (I am married, so it didn't do me any good!) Usually, I see people that are trying to tell me something who usually show up when I am near sleep or in my bedroom. Otherwise they are people attached to a place and then I only see them there. But, this guy followed me. He showed up in my room a couple of times, then I saw him in the city in broad daylight - I thought it was a real marine but when I linked he vanished. Then he turned up at work! He sat in the corner of my classroom for part of a class.

At first I was afraid he was someone that I knew that may have died - I know several people who are deployed. But, I spoke to a Marine about what he was wearing and what he did and she said she thought he was there to protect me. I have some guesses as to what that was about, but I don't know for sure. He hung around for about three weeks and then was gone......

Yes, but more than a tad disconcerting to come out of the bathroom in the middle of the night and see a Marine in full dress blues standing right in front of you!!

Kind of hard to share with the average person......

My sister and I once went to Pea Patch Island, a civil war fort that has re-enactors. We hung around in this one room talking to a gunnery sargaent for a while. His outfit was cool and very detailed. So we walked out and a guy headed in and asked us if we wanted to stay and talk to him about civil war weapons. We said No thank you we just had a great conversation with that guy and we turned around to gesture at the man we had been talking to and there was no one there. One door in and one door out and we had been blocking that door.

They asked us tons of questions about what happened. Apparently they are having "issues." They were on Ghost HUnters but that show has gotten pretty bogus...

Okay, I have no idea if I am doing this correctly. I sort of made it up. Lately I have been reading about Hekate. An author named Sorita d'? (I don't know her last name)has a couple of fascinating books on the goddess. I have to admit that I didn't really like the thought of working with Hekate. She seems so dark to me and there was something a little to cliché' about her. Even Shakespeare associated her with witches.

After a couple of strange occurrences, I wonder if she isn't calling to me. So, I have started reading about her and trying to learn more.

So every morning I have been leaving her a little offering on the altar I set up. It isn't anything grand. Maybe some honey(I read that she likes that), a little wine or milk. In the morning, I take the old offering outside and then give her something new.

This sounds silly but the entire, short ritual of offering her the food and bowing a little in front of the altar makes me feel peaceful all day long.

Hekate is interesting because she is associated with such a wide variety of different things. Childbirth, cemeteries, transition in life, protector against evil(Romans had a shrine for her outside of the entrance to most buildings ), initiations etc. According to Sorita, some Greek text say that Zeus gave the Titan Goddess a share of dominion over sea, sky and land. A wide variety of animals seem to be associated with her; Large, black dogs that follow her, serpents and even lions.

I don't know which is the correct spelling of her name, Hekate or Hecate. Sorita writes Hekate.

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Both of these are amazing stories. I like the tale of the Marine. Maybe he kept you safe from a danger that you didn't know about.
