He's pretty unique. He has unusual views on death as well. Last year his friend told himm her granny doesn't get her anything for christmas, because her granny is dead.

"That's cool, your granny comes on halloween to visit! I have to wait till december"

OMGs Saddina!!

That will have me secretly snorting to myself for the next month!!!

We celebrate Ostara much like everyone celebrates eater because as Saddina said - we had that celebration first. It would be clearer to say that Christians celebrate easter much as we celebrate Ostara. They cannot even explain the name of their holiday because it is a mangled version of Ostara.

I wish we had an out community here!

Last time I came out around here some one met me in the parking lot and threw holy water on me.

I have so enjoyed this thread!!

I am pagan, married to a nominal Catholic, raising pagan children- occassionally with resistance. There are no "out" groups here that I am aware of but as a Biology/Animal Science graduate, I think I have evolution covered.

I just shared "Zombie Jesus" with my cube mates and they are all cracking up.

I don't belong to a group though if one jumped up around here, I would be interested. I have to do my practice in the woods as even the tarot cards make the husband nervous. Though his family thinks it is great and are always wanting a reading. Mexican Catholics are a lot more open to witches then most it would seem.

Raised Church of Christ and most of my family is that or Baptist. As most "holidays" are celebrated at my house the few odd things we do are mostly accepted without too many questions. Though I love the questions. Mom argued with me about Easter so I asked her where bunnies and eggs came in. She had no answer and actually listened to me about Ostara. About had a heartattack.

The kids love the "extra" holidays as we do Pagan, Mexican, American, and Catholic.

I actually had fun with the holy water thing - I screamed wicked witch of the west -like and said "Oh I'm melting!!! NOT" and laughed I said to her all I am is wet do you feel better now?.

Oh yeah we've had some doozies.

Is it ok for me to quote this elsewhere?

Of course. Evan's a few degrees off north, but that's part of the beauty of it. He's a very logical child and that leads to looking at life quite differently.

I just forwarded it to a mate of mine who's in training to be a catholic priest - he'll love it!

and Evan sounds absolutely wonderful to me.
Looking at life differently makes for the best child (and adult!) to have a conversation with.
