Saddina is a quilter like me. I am sure that she has paid for patterns like I have that are copywritten. But like any artist you have to add part of youself to it. Whether it's a change in color or a twist of a block, you just can't stick to the pattern exactly as it is.

With that said, I don't see anything wrong with you changing the pattern to suit you. You aren't claiming the pattern as your own, just making it fit you.

Clear as mud right? LOL

I didn't know we had an OFFICIAL thread... LOL

I lean toward the Pagan beliefs... mostly due to the naturalness of it all, though I subscribe to no official religion or deity

A mostly non-practicing witch ...... mostly a lot of armchair stuff these days... reading and studying.... though I am feeling more and more pulled to practice

Rusty Hills, I feel that if you were selling your product made off of pattern that you altered it would be unethical. Actually, unless she states it's ok, it's unethical to sell the product at all, altered or not. However, if the finished product is a gift, or is for yourself, then I see nothing wrong with altering it. You paid her for her time by buying the pattern. Let us see pics when you are done!

Oh, it is most definitely for me--I had a spot all picked out for it. If the chart weren't so blatantly Christian, I probably wouldn't have given a second thought to changing it (but then it wouldn't have needed changing--now there's a Catch-22!) I tend to be a tad prickly over all things Christian and am maybe overthinking this because of that. I don't want to be as insensitive to them as they have been to me over the years. Does that even make any sense? Anyhow, I think it would be nice to have something that is visibly pagan on my walls. Up til now I have not been grandly, flamboyantly pagan, more quietly and unassumingly so, and I finally feel ready to make a louder statement.

Thanks for helping me decide.

I entirely agree with Sune42. as long as you aren't selling it, it's up to you if you include words or not, and what they say.

Sending good energies for Saddina!

Hello Guitartists

I agree with everyone else on the stitching dilemma, I am always picking pieces here and there and adding my own touches. Keep them for myself so no bad karma there!

Glad to see this thread is still here. Sadina, best of luck to you... I hope you recover quickly!

I've been lurking and haven't posted because I've always been fairly guarded about my feelings toward religion.

#1 rule, never talk religion # 2 rule, never talk government

So I'm breaking my #1 rule here!!

I don't subscribe to any religion, yet feel like there is something spiritual to the world.

I live my life because I'm alive to enjoy it, I don't live it hoping for, or in fear of, something after death.

Saddina, I am thinking good thoughts for you. With your permission I want to plant a seed in my garden for you. I don't quite know why really, it just feels right.

Welcome to the thread Guitartists and welcome back SillyChicken

-Amanda who feels she should put her name in more often cause I feel weird when people call me Sune42, lol

Amanda! My daughter's name is Amanda and yesterday was her birthday. Forgive my spotty memory and being too lazy to go all the way back through the posts, but wasn't it you that had the long lost uncle who served in Korea??

I haven't gotten any more from my visitor, but I am still not sure what that was all about!
