For this year the breeding season is finished and the moulting season has started. The brilliant blue as shown above is worn out.
During the mating season the male are taking care to the coloring of the plumage. They try to stand and lay in the shadow, that the sun will not destroy the brightness of the plumage.
As soon as the moulting starts you can see that they change this, now you can see them laying and standing in the sun and this is the result, Within three four weeks the bright blue on the wing covers is dull and dark.

Happy Peas, love all the room they have

greens are very important in their calcium intake IMO

Nice birds and pens! I love all of that bamboo. How many imperators did you raise this year?
I like the bamboo too. It makes everything very green and natural.
It looks that I will get finally 17 imperator chicks. In two weeks I will know it.

My peafowl hardly let me bamboo grow, so it looks pretty awful.

I am glad to hear that you were successful with the imperators! Now the question is how they will get to the U.S....

Hier you can see how my first imperator chick of 2014 is looking five months later. It is an amzing young male, with stunning long legs.
