Three snapshots form yesterday evening. I saw our “Cäsar” on the perch and I had to make three pictures. He was shining over the whole back and wing covers. Due to this, he forced me to make some pictures of him.
How beautiful! I hope mine looks like this some day!

Pictures from the Sunday afternoon walk with my first green peachicks from 2015 (two weeks old now).
With all artificial bred chicks I walk every day min. 1 hour on the grassland that the muscles and tendons of the long legs are optimal trained.
Another thing is, the chicks are totally excited how many insects they can find to eat.

Beautiful family and your pens should be an example as to what all folks with any kind of birds should strive to have when ever possible, very ,very nice and i am sure your birds are happy and healthier for it.

Nice birds indeed, congrats!

Btw, do you think its important to have some grass in their pen?
Zaz has looked in the crop of one of her free-range peafowl that died and has found that it was filled with mostly grass. Even when I feed my peafowl they will take a short break to walk around eating grass and then come back to their food. They eat a lot of grass. I think the grass gives them something to peck at, gives them a constant source of greens to eat, it is a great place for bugs to hide that the birds can then eat, and it keeps the ground cooler on their feet. I think the grass is very beneficial but in some instances it can be hard to keep grass in your aviary. The best thing is to find a grass that works best in your climate. The rye grass in my pen is starting to die because it is getting too hot outside, so soon I will have to plant a summer grass that will be able to take the heat. The nice thing about growing grass in a peafowl aviary is the birds fertilize the grass for you and they turn the soil for you so really all you do is throw out the seeds and water them but other than that the peafowl take care of it.
