The amount of pigment in the egg seems to vary from time to time, which would make the eggs darker on some days then others. I have three brown egg layers and got a white egg the other day

. As for laying in the run... My australorps have been laying since february and one of them has an ooopsey about once a week and leaves me an egg by the door to the run. Seems to be the same one every time as the egg looks the same, but I'm not sure which it is, or why she does it!

Absolutely! Every egg our flock has ever laid has been in a completely different category. I don't think we could ever go back to store bought eggs....

Just the articles of undercover investigations of egg factories is enough to make me never buy store eggs again.

Hey! My EE did the SAME thing today!!! HAHAHAHA She has spent SOOOO much time in the nesting boxes and even this morning when I saw her. I come back a couple hours later and I see a small green egg in the grass by their outside water pool! Poor girl farted it out on accident! She'll get a handle on it!

I discovered my first one today at 7:15pm. I've been asking the ladies every night for the last week where the eggs were.

Well she laid again yesterday right on schedule, and this one was in the laying box! In fact, I had a brown leghorn who wanted to lay, and was very angry at how long she was taken. He didn't want to hear that there was another laying box available...apparently that was HER laying box, LOL! She became VERY, very vocal with something that sounds just like his egg song. It went on for half an hour, before she finally gave up and went into the other laying box. Here is a little of it we recorded as she stood there and yelled at Ester...because it was so funny....

Love the blue color of the egg. I am still waiting for my first eggs but it is going to be a bit yet. I have two that should be in a month or so and the rest will not be till int he fall some time.
