Oh boy, which to choose?

See, I was just totally uninformed.
That's why this site is the best.

Thanks!

Maybe they could be if you didn't handle them enough. I feel like I left out one thing to consider about Moderns, though. If you are going to show the roosters, you will have to dub them. (cut off the combs and wattles)

You want something that not everyone has and is a great size for kids..... Bantam orpingtons would be my pick.

They are the perfect size for showing, don't go broody often yet still lay a good size egg for eating. They come in several colors and and very addictive to own.

I myself will be bringing out several colors to show this fall.

I do know someone in FL that raises them and has some great stock, perfect for showing.

Message me with their information so I can see how far away they are located. Ultimately, the choice is hers but I need to help with finding something she can handle easiest.

I'll have to look it up.

Why do you think they make a good choice for first timers?

well brahma's are a very calm breed but the standerds get giant so thats why the bantam part. they are also very pretty

I agree with Bantam Brahmas also. They are absolutely kind in nature and their size is great for kids. Here are mine

Those are really nice looking birds!
I just sent a message to someone nearby downsizing a flock of brahmas but I believe they are standard and not bantam.

Keep the info coming, this is really helping!
