Oh wow very interesting looking and that sounds fun!!! Although a lot of people on the ice!! sorry if this is a stupid question, but do your lakes still freeze all the way? I know the Erie one hasn’t been fully freezing lately according to my cousin and uncle and I know our cranberry bogs haven’t frozen solid enough lately but we are also warmer than either of you. We used to skate on it but lately I don’t think it’s safe enough but of course it never got very thick anyway. And people do still go out so maybe it is. Maybe this year will be thicker/more solid since it is colder.

Yep, our lakes freeze over. We drive on them all winter. I have to use an extension on my ice auger starting the end of January. My auger is 36 inches and I have a 16 inch extension, by mid February I am barely making it through the ice.

Lake Superior freezes over every couple years, far more now than it did when I was a kid. It’s such a huge deep body of water it takes a lot to freeze it over.

Try taking small broccoli florets and tossing them in a dash of olive oil, a dash of sea salt, and a small handfull of fresh grated parmesan cheese.

Put them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and roast at 350-ish until the tips start to brown a bit. Maybe 10-15 minutes depending on size.

Delish!
Are they still crispy?

:eek:Winter is quite the opposite here! Snow is rare, and ice on the pond is even rarer!

Oh wow that’s amazing!!

And that makes sense!! I can’t remember if Erie used to freeze a lot or not. They seem to think it used to but idk. I can’t imagine the WHOLE lake froze over a lot. Maybe only the parts they could see? Idk.

Yes and no. They get a bit soft, but have a crunch to them still. They're awesome.
I made a skillet fry the other night. I fried the venison in a separate skillet from the veggies.

I added the veggies by how long they would fry before going limp. I had potatoes, sweet potatoes, Lima beans, carrots, onions for veggies.

I only used a little olive oil and seasoned with Worcester sauce, crushed peppers, salt and pepper. Everything was still crunchy. It was super, I thought.
Of course, the venison was fried to perfection like civilized people eat meat..
