Hispanics think "chicken" means "hen." I've explained it to a couple of them and it's amazing to me how difficult it is for them to wrap their heads around the notion that calling them "chickens" is the same as calling a female dog a "dog."

I think they saying that THESE birds are pure bred but you can breed them with the other breeds to enhance coloring. That's how I read it anyway.
