Or this one......I was good until the bolded part. They seriously think chicks need heat until they're almost 4 months old? sheesh, mine are on their own around 6 weeks.....and why aren't these chicks more feathered out at this age?

These chicks are out of my project Partridge Orpingtons and to light in color for my program. I'm breeding towards APA standards and these will be nice looking birds and good layers. Chicks are 1.5 month old. Parent stock are good layers of large brown eggs. Chicks are straight run. They will need heat lamp or heating pad for another at least 2 months and can't be outdoors until fully feathered. The chicks are friendly and will be friendly as adults. Orpingtons are non aggressive and great starter chickens with wonderful personalities. My flock is NPIP certified.

That maybe, but it sure looks like two boys and a girl too. I wonder why he keeps heat lamps on them so long. Makes no sense..

The first thing the jumped into my mind was why he would conclude they are 'too light' in color as fuzzy chicks well before they actually feathered out, as chick fuzz color is rarely conclusive of the final adult feather out color...

My guess is he wanted the partridge color and thought those were buffs... But that is a total guess. I know a lot of my partridge color birds start out pretty darn light though.
