Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

I bred and raised these trophys.
700

They will be table mounts instead of wall mounts

Now THAT is something I can admire and understand being proud of!

I've heard the same thing about Cabelas and Bass Pro and others. I'm not opposed to mounts, I've got several on my walls (not mine, I don't hunt, but my husband's). I guess the thing I can't wrap my mind around is the "why" of this canned hunting. Like your acquaintance with the buffalo- why pay good money to go kill a tame animal? You wouldn't have a cool story to tell. If you bought the ram in the Craigslist ad, killed it and put it on your wall, wouldn't that be the lamest story ever? Someone comes to your house and goes "wow that's cool! Where'd you get that, in Asia somewhere?" And you say "no, I bought it on Craigslist and shot it in my backyard! Isn't that awesome?" I just don't get it.

The would-be Hunter would be better off buying green hides off of the internet, hydrating them and having them mounted.

I agree it is not something I would do. Now if my family needed the meat, I would shoot it but never put it on the wall. The waste would end up in the incinerator or composting, including the head. I might hang the horns on the barn or shed if they were huge just to show what I had raised or as a goal for the next one.

However, I am not much of a hunter anymore, too old, to aware of my own mortality. I processed the turkey and chicken I showed the pictures of last week and it was even hard to do. I knew it needed to be done, did not want to, but had to.

I understand stuffed animals as an educational tool, and if the "thing/goat/sheep/whatever it is." was used like that I could see shooting it. But I agree not to hang in a room have a drink around and say "This was quite a kill, I got him just before he got to the hay" "You should have seen it, the kids had just scratched him behind the ears and he was walking away, he turned and I had a clean shot". "Another 8 feet and he would have been hidden by the feeder".

"t was amazing!"

And the hoisting a glass of whatever it is rich people drink.

However, on the other side of it, if I owned him and did not want or need him, I would gladly let someone pay me thousand to shot him before he reaches the watering trough.

Anyone here want to hang a stuffed Rooster Head on their wall? I have a few record roosters you can shoot/stab/axe or fight to the death for a reasonable fee. Destroying the meat will not be tolerated or torturing the rooster. The one in the picture dressed out at 15 pounds 4 ounces. I think I have a 17 pounder lurking somewhere around here...

Contact me for prices....

(Yep, I freely admit to a certain amount of hypocrite in me)

Edited to add: I have some nice turkeys you could mount if you want to stalk a turkey and get a trophy.

I read a post on a FB sale page, someone griping about people selling "new Christmas toys"... The poster assumed the toys were donated to the families and were being sold for drug money. My first thought was "how sad". But lots of folks jumped in with reasons, like maybe the toy wasn't age appropriate, or was a duplicate, so they were selling to go buy a replacement... Or a coat instead of a toy (something of greater need)

Point being, without more details, it's hard to tell. To each his own.

Are you saying some guy might really needed a Goat to finish his Man cave collection?

BTW I admire the guy selling it, If I could sell something for $3,500 that I had too many of I would.

Heck I will sell barely used Roosters for $350!

Maybe? :idunno

Maybe its good eating. Maybe it will be a pet. Maybe it will be used to find a cure for stupidity! Lol

Just saying we can only speculate. And if there's a buyer, they can do whatever they wish with it.
