Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

Cancer isn't contagious.

Wow, really? I had no idea. Well, I mean, I guess I did know or else everyone with cancer would pass itnon to everyone else, but I guess I just thought eating it was different. Like that you eat it and the cells are in you so you could get it. But maybe the stomach acid breaks it down?

Yes, it passes through the digestive system and the cancerous cells in this case aren't even from the same species of animal. They wouldn't have a way to propagate.

This link is about humans but the same principles apply.

Like it says if you on purpose transfer tumor cells surgically from one member of the same species to another you might be able to transfer it but that's it.

I guess I kinda thought all cancer was the same, hadn't realized it was different per species. Wow, I sound like an idiot now haha sorry

Thank you, that's very informative. And food for thought. ;) (I had to say that, forgive me. Lol! :p )

You're welcome :) It's not entirely black and white either, there have been some cancers found that can spread (like the type in tasmanian devils mentioned in the article I linked) and some have just been found that can spread between closely related species of mollusk, but that's it, and it's only between the same species or very closely related species and so far it's only those specific types of cancer. Also it's good to note that the mussels have really poor immune systems which is probably why that's able to happen.

Around here I've seen people selling goat poop, rabbit poop, horse poop, but never chicken poop haha
Our neighbors gladly bring their shovels & buckets when it's time to empty our composter. I just can't use it all & am happy to have it cleaned out. I was just surprised people would charge or pay for poop. I have 2 big dogs.......but I doubt their waste would fetch any $.
